This aircraft was previously assigned to Capt Virgil I. Meroney of the 487th FS 352nd FG and in this aircraft Capt Meroney scored 9 kills. He was the only Thunderbolt ace in the entire 352nd FG. In addition, future ace Capt George R. Preddy scored his second kill (an Me 210) in this P-47 on 22 December 1943. Noting that Lt Beck also shot down the FW-190 that shot him down in a head-on pass, this aircraft achieved at least 11 air-to-air kills total.
